AUS vs PAK: “Other Teams Are Not Playing Like That”-Mohammad Yousuf Makes An Intriguing Mention To Bazball, While Outlining Pakistani Batsmen’s Struggles In Australia

Mohammad Yousuf has shared his suggestions to young batsmen like Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel to not play Bazball-style cricket,  as every team can’t bat like England in the test cricket. Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer and captain Mohammad Yousuf further added solid technique and patience are mandatory for any batter to do well in the International cricket.

With a crushing 360-run victory, Australia thoroughly humiliated Pakistan in Perth in the opening Test of the three-match series. With this loss, Pakistan have lost 15 consecutive Test matches in Australia. Pakistani team haven’t been able to win a Test in Australia since 1995.

After Australians scored a mammoth total of 487 while batting first, visitors were bowled out for 271. The only batter from Pakistan to score a half-century in the Perth Test was Imam-ul-Haq. He scored 62 (199) in the 1st innings. Australia declared their second innings on 233/5 after which following their drubbing of Pakistan for a pitiful 89 runs in the second innings.

You need to be technically sound- Mohammad Yousuf

In  a recent interview with Cricket Pakistan, ahead of the Boxing Day test at the the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Mohammad Yousuf emphasized the significance of a fighting spirit and solid technique of players , particularly for those who are making their first tour of Australia.

“They [Abdullah Shafique, Saud Shakeel] have gone to Australia for the first time, many players struggle, you need to be technically sound, have a strong fighting spirit, maintain solid technique, and work with patience on the field,” said Mohammad Yousuf.

Further explaining on Pakistan must not try to play and replicate the England’s aggressive template with the willow in Test cricket. Until the wicket and conditions are suitable to play aggressive kind of cricket.

“Look, the ‘Bazball’ cricket that we hear is being played by England, other teams are not playing like that. Yes, if necessary, judge the wicket, adapt to the conditions, and watch how the bowler is bowling. Based on that, if you feel you can play aggressively, then definitely play. If a ball is not conducive for aggressive play, then how can you play it aggressively?,” the former Pakistani batter Mohammad Yousuf added.

Despite Pakistan’s poor performance in the first Test match against Australia, Mohammad Yousuf doesn’t think the team’s mental toughness is a problem. Pointed out that you need to have significant technique to come out on the top of the game.

“In my opinion, mentally our boys are fine. If you meet them, you will find that mentally they are well. It’s a significant advantage to have the right technique. This is a recognized fact. Our technique should be correct from top to bottom. This is going to be a very important task, so a lot of work is going to happen here, that’s why this point is being reiterated again and again to focus on First-Class cricket,” he added.

Now it will be exciting to see that how Pakistan team will bounce back form their defeat of the 1st match. Pakistan and Australia will meet at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the Boxing Day test match.
