NED vs SL: Sadeera Samarawickrama’s Unbeaten 91 & Fast Bowlers Help Sri Lanka Snatch Victory Against Netherlands

Sadeera Samarawickrama‘s 91  and four wickets from the fast-bowling duo of Rajitha and Madushanka guided Sri Lanka to victory. Sadeera Samarawickrama paced the run chase smartly as the surface wasn’t a belter one.

The Netherlands won the toss and chose to bat it was a good toss to win for the Dutch since it was a day game and Sri Lanka was under pressure sitting at the bottom of the table.

Sri Lanka got off to a fantastic start with the ball both Kasun Rajitha and Madushanka are right on the money from the start. Rajitha got his reward by trapping  Vikramjit Singh’s leg before for 4 off 13 balls Dot ball pressure creates a wicket for Sri Lanka

Rajitha redeems himself after bowling a wide by bowling O’Dowd with the extra delivery. It was full and swinging away outside off and O’Dowd looks to drive but gets a thick edge that goes back into the stumps and departs for 16.

Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek rescued the Dutch with a century stand.

From 91/6 to 161/6 – Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek have slowly but steadily stabilised the Netherlands after a huge collapse The duo added 130 runs for the 7th wicket. Engelbrecht played a fantastic innings coming in at a vital time and played some superb shorts before departing for 70 off 82 with 4 four and six.

Logan van Beek also did his part brilliantly and gave good company to Engelbrecht he scored a brilliant half-century as he departed for 59 off 75 with a four and six to guide Netherlands to a respectable total of 262 in 49.4 overs.

Rajitha has a dream-opening spell as he rattles the opener cheaply and comes back to finish the tail  he finishes with figures of 4  for 50 in his 9 overs Madushanka too took 4 vital wickets for Sri Lanka he finished with 4 for 49 in 9.4 overs. Theekshana picked up a wicket finish with the figures of 1 for 44 in his 10 overs

Kusal Perera is gone and that’s the first wicket for Netherlands After hitting a four off the previous ball, Perera attempted a cut shot off the shorter ball outside off that took a top edge and de Leede takes an easy catch. Poor batting by him departs for just 5 runs.

Aryan Dutt strikes again and skipper Kusal Mendis goes for the sweep but he gets a top edge which is taken cleanly by the fielder at short fine leg. Mendis  is gone for 11,

Samarawickrama scored a brilliant 91 off 107 balls with 7 fours to guide Sri Lanka to their first victory in this edition of the World Cup. Aryan was the pick of the bowlers for the Dutch he finished with 3 wickets for 44 in his 10 overs.
