Nobody had us down to win 3-0 in Pakistan- James Anderson

In a statement to The Telegraph, the 41-year-old Anderson shared that England intends to adopt a more aggressive playing style compared to previous tours. Drawing inspiration from their recent 3-0 series win in Pakistan, the team aims to approach the challenges in India with greater assertiveness and determination.

I’m more excited going into this tour than previous tours to India. In the past, it has been a real slog and we have tried to grind it out. We will look to play the same way of the last two years but be smart about it,”

“Nobody had us down to win 3-0 in Pakistan and we can take huge confidence from that. Conditions could be similar, not identical, but slow wickets for seamers and we have to be smart,”

The seasoned Lancashire seamer expressed optimism about leveraging his extensive experience to navigate the challenges in India effectively, highlighting his determination to contribute positively during the upcoming tour. Anderson added,

“India is a place where conditions will not be in favor of the seamers but I’ve been there before and had success, so I’m just trying to marry all that up and make sure I’m in a really good place.”

Anderson, alongside Joe Root, stands as one of the few remaining members from the current squad who were part of England’s memorable victory in India in 2012. The veteran pacer had a successful tour, securing 12 wickets in seven innings at an average of 30.25.

It is just a case of putting in the hard work- James Anderson

Despite his disappointing performance in the 2023 Ashes series, Anderson expressed optimism about the fruits of his hard work paying off. James Anderson said,

“I feel the last 5-6 years have been the best of my career. Although the Ashes did not go as well as I wanted it to, there have been many series when I have not bowled well throughout my career and it is just a case of putting in the hard work to make sure it doesn’t happen again,”

England started the new WTC cycle 2023-25 with a 2-2 draw series against the mighty Australia at home.
