Clash of Southern Derby between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was held on April 25, where Bengaluru was keen to take revenge and they played efficiently well and secured their second win of the season. Virat Kohli‘s defensive approach once again has come under scrutiny.
Bengaluru posted 206 runs onboard and in response, Hyderabad fell short by 35 runs. Fire guns Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma lost their wicket in the powerplay itself and Hyderabad was 62/4 after the powerplay. They failed to recover the innings and lost the match. Virat and Rajat Patidar scored half-centuries which cost Bengaluru beneficial and were able to achieve the 200-run mark.

Former Indian player and now-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan lauds Virat Kohli for his approach showing in t20 and this kind of change at the age of 35 is outstanding. He says:
“He (Kohli) is no longer hesitant to hit the ball in the air. To change your approach at this stage of your career despite scoring more than 25000 runs at the international level, he is just a different beast when it comes to mindset,” he said.
