Virat Kohli has the Leading Run Scorer in the IPL. As he is retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the franchise in which he has been plying since 2008; he has a fixed cap on his price of 17 Cr. If Kohli goes into the auction, each and every team would like to get a match winner like him in their team. The bidding war for Kohli can break each and every record in the history of any tournaments.

This debate came to the rise after Australian Skipper Pat Cummins broke the record for the most expensive player to be sold in IPL Auction for a massive 20.5Cr to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Just within a few minutes, his countrymen Mitchell Starc broke the record by becoming the Most Expensive Player in IPL Auction by getting a whooping 24.75Cr from Kolkata Knight Riders.

Aakash Chopra believes that Virat Kohli will be the costliest player if in IPL Auction

Former players like Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel, RP Singh and Aakash Chopra do not seem quite satisfied with the amount given to the India players in the IPL. They feel Indians Stars like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and others deserve more money than the overseas players.

“The purse should be of INR 200 crore with 150 for the Indian players. The remaining INR 50 crore should be kept for the overseas cricketers. Virat Kohli would go for INR 42 crore if he comes to the auction table,” Aakash Chopra said.

Raina also agreed with Aakash. “Jasprit Bumrah for INR 12 crore, MS Dhoni for INR 12 crore, Mohammed Shami for INR 5 crore. And the player who was not a part of the league for 8 years and nas played just 26 matches was given almost 25 crore. This is not done,” Suresh Raina said.
