Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are way too much reliant on the star batter Virat Kohli who once again did the bulk of the scoring. Virat Kohli scored 83 runs in 59 balls and was looking in sublime touch. Perhaps, the batter should play a bit more aggressively in the middle overs as his strike rate has ben a concern for quite some time now.

KKR fans would be over the moon as they whacked RCB’s bowlers all around the park and now questions have started to raise regarding the bowling attack of RCB which looks quite fragile. The management would be considering bringing back the lethal speedster Tom Curran who can also smash lusty blows at the back end of the innings.

RCB on the other hand now have lost 2 matches out of 3 and have a NRR (net run rate) of -0.711 which is not a good sign. The form of the RCB skipper Faf du Plessis too has been a concern for the side as there has been enormous pressure on the ex-skipper Virat Kohli to up the ante.

Andre Russell bowling at the death has a little imprint of Gautam Gambhir- Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel. Aakash Chopra pointed out that the intent of Sunil Narine against RCB changed the course of the match. Aakash Chopra said that Virat Kohli scored 83 runs in 59 balls and KKR managed to score 85 runs in 5.5 overs and said that the entire bowling unit of RCB was taken to the cleaners.

“When Sunil Narine opens, the template is absolutely clear – ‘Either I or you will not remain’. He plays in that fashion, tries to hit sixes. Everyone knows that you need to repeatedly bowl bouncers and yorkers, but if you don’t get success in that, just like Bengaluru didn’t get in the first six overs, he takes the match far away from your grasp,” said Aakash Chopra.

“Phil Salt was also there with him. Phil Salt hit 18 runs in the first over itself. He was brilliant. Just to put things in context, the opposing team bowled well but Kohli played 59 balls to reach 83 and Kolkata had already scored 85 in 5.5 overs. Whether it was Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Siraj or Yash Dayal, everyone was hit a lot,” he stated.

“I feel Gautam has given them a lot of confidence. Sunil Narine opening has Gautam Gambhir’s imprint. Andre Russell bowling at the death also has a little imprint of Gautam Gambhir. He is empowering them slightly and the same can be said about Venkatesh Iyer. He has been empowered to hit fours and sixes,” he added.
