Mumbai Indians (MI) lost their seventh consecutive match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and are almost eliminated from the competition. Mumbai was able to register just 144 runs onboard as Hardik Pandya led side couldn’t create an impact with the bat in hand. Lucknow chased down the target with 4 wickets to spare. Stoinis wrote the winning script for Lucknow he scored 62 runs in 45 balls and played a crucial knock.

From Mumbai Nehal Wadhera and Tim David were the highest run-getters, Mumbai was devastated in the powerplay as they lost 4 wickets and were found in trouble. Hardik got out on Golden Duck which was a shameful thing for Mumbai Indians.

Irfan Pathan slams Hardik Pandya again

Former Indian player and now-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan slams Hardik Pandya once again as he played very amateur and his captaincy was very poor. The planning and rotation of bowlers were not proper throughout the tournament. Playing immature cricket and lack of planning all lost compared to last year when he used to lead Gujarat Titans. Bumrah who is the asset of Mumbai Indians even though his overs were not planned properly still is the highest wicket-taker till now.

Irfan says:

“The team Mumbai Indians that qualified last year didn’t have Jasprit Bumrah but this season they had his services. Still, they are in this situation. Purely because the team wasn’t managed well on the ground. Too many mistakes by their captain Hardik Pandya. It’s the truth,”

“I think losing early wickets is tough to recover from and that’s why we couldn’t do it (recover) today. You still have to see the ball and hit. We just missed those balls and got out, that has been the kind of season we have had so far. I have always believed that you will be up and you’ll be up, it’s just that you have to give it your all. A lot of things to learn from this game,” he stated.

Since Hardik was appointed as captain of Mumbai Indians nothing positive was seen for him. The booing of fans and no team-building such reasons are enough to describe Hardik’s captaincy. Till last year’s absence of Bumrah with young bowlers Mumbai was qualified for playoffs but this year all things changed and nothing positive was seen in the camp. Let’s see if next year can Mumbai turn its fortunes into positive or else will continue with the same intent.
