Gujarat Titans’ (GT) skipper Shubman Gill will be over the moon after the side beat the dangerous Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) that too quite single handedly. Shubman Gill played a decent knock of 36 runs in 28 balls and struck 2 fours and 1 six and was seen taking calculative risks which was quite new as he is someone who plays his natural fearless brand of cricket.

GT had a brilliant powerplay as they scored 52 runs in it for the loss of 1 wicket. It seemed as if GT’s batters had a clear gameplan as which bowler to attack and which not. They played out SRH’s star bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar quite smartly as the surface was assisting the pacers. SRH skipper Pat Cummins should have bowled himself in 3 spells as the target (163 runs) wasn’t a daunting one for a star studded GT’s batting line up.

SRH’s next challenge is against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 5th April at their home ground. CSK will be aiming to get back to winning ways after losing against Delhi Capitals (DC). The problem with SRH is that they are way too much reliant on the overseas players which is not a good sign if the side wants to make it to play offs and eventually win the championship.

We thought 160-170 would be a good score- Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was seen in the post match presentation. Shubman Gill was quite ecstatic after winning two matches at their home ground. Shubman pointed out that the likes of Noor & Rashid bowled in the middle overs made the difference in the end. Shubman Gill pointed out that the veteran pacer Mohit Sharma duped the batters with his variations.

“To be able to win two matches at home is great. We have another game here before we travel for an away game and hopefully, we will have good momentum. when we come back. The way our bowlers bowled in the middle overs, especially Noor (Ahmed) and Rashid (Khan), who is a world-class bowler, and the way Darshan  (Nalkande) bowled a couple of overs was superb,” said Shubman Gill.

“In T20, you have to keep your options open. We thought 160-170 would be a good score. Credit to all the bowlers to restrict them to that score. Mohit Sharma is such an experienced player, especially on wickets like these. He comes in, bowls those yorkers and slower balls. In this heat, it’s easier to score with the new ball. Our plan was to make them hit the slower ball to the longer side,” he added.
