Gujarat Titans (GT) snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against the invincible Mumbai Indians (MI). GT won the match by 6 runs and it didn’t look as if Shubman Gill was leading for the first time as he marshalled the troops smartly. Shubman Gill was slowly getting into the groove as he scored 31 runs in 22 balls but was outfoxed by the veteran spinner Piyush Chawla.”

MI on the other side would be dejected as chasing 169 runs is not a difficult task in the modern cricket. The former skipper Rohit Sharma was looking ominous as he played a staggering knock of 43 runs in 29 balls but was duped by R Sai Kishore. MI’s management made a mistake by not promoting the skipper Hardik Pandya up the order as coming at no. 7 position didn’t help the side by any means.

Mohit Sharma has been a revelation since last year- Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was seen in the post match interview and lauded the players for holding their nerves in a thriller. Shubman Gill pointed out that the spinners Rashid Khan & R Sai Kishore bowled impeccable line & lengths. Shubman Gill stated that the seasoned campaigner Mohit Sharma has been continuing his form since last year.

“Definitely a tough game, the way the boys held their nerves to bowl in the death overs was just magnificent especially with the dew coming in. Yes there was a bit of dew, despite that, the way our spinners bowled, Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore, made sure that we were in the game always. In the end, it was all about putting on the pressure and holding our nerves,” said Shubman Gill

“Mohit has been a revelation since last year and he is continuing his form and hopefully he will continue to deliver for us for many more matches to come. Definitely, the crowd is one thing that has always turned up. Even if it is a day game or a night game and shout-out to all the fans that came to support us,” he added.

Steep challenge awaits GT

GT’s next match is against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 26th March at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. GT will have to face the spin trial as CSK have got a lot of quality spinners present in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali & Maheesh Theekshana who can spurn a web across the batters.

It will be a battle between young blood of Ruturaj Gaikwad & Shubman Gill as we can expect a lot of fire-works as both the teams bat deep. All eyes though will be on the former skipper MS Dhoni as against RCB, he didn’t come out to bat as the pinch hitter Shivam Dube played a terrific cameo and took the team over the finish line.
