IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Win The Last Ball Thriller Against Mighty Rajasthan Royals (RR)

On Thursday we witnessed something that usually happens in t20 cricket, last-ball thriller, and nail-biting finishes at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won the match by just 1 run and it intrigued fans in the last over drama who will win. Death specialist Bhuvneshwar Kumar defended 13 runs in the last over and won the match. Caribbean batter Rowman Powell almost finished the game he misjudged the last ball and got lbw.

Fans in the stadium were cheering and shouting. Rajasthan needed 27 runs in 18 balls and the match hyped up there when it was predicted that it would be stretched to the last ball. Dhruv Jurel lost his wicket in the 19th over and felt that the match would shift towards Hyderabad. Despite giving just 7 runs in the over by skipper Pat Cummins last over thriller made the day.

Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Hyderabad is known for its destructive batting and registering mammoth totals but this time they didn’t get a solid start, poor powerplay and losing 2 wickets was not a good sign for Hyderabad still able to register 200 runs onboard. Kudos to Travis Head played an important inning and the finishing touches by Nitish Reddy scoring 76 runs truly helped Hyderabad reach that score. In response, Rajasthan had a disastrous start as they lost Buttler and skipper Sanju Samson in an over itself and were in trouble but Riyan Parag came in between and scored 77 runs in vain. Rowman Powell tried his best but couldn’t make it through.

Rajasthan dominates powerplay, Sunrisers Hyderabad roars in the end

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first but the decision over overturned as Hyderabad was unable to give a solid start which usually they give while batting first. Hyderabad lost 2 wickets and scored just 37 runs in powerplay. After a bad powerplay, Hyderabad needed to be on track once again so Travis Head stood along from one side and scored 58 runs, when Head lost his wicket Rajasthan felt they were back in the game but Nitish Reddy was out of no-ware and smashed runs with boundaries.

Yuzvendra Chahal who used to bowl economical spells was targeted by batters and conceded 62 runs in his spell with zero wickets. Nitish Reddy scored 76 runs including 3 fours and 8 sixes. Because of Nitish Hyderabad was able to register 201 runs onboard. Bowlers are the strength of Rajasthan but they failed only Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma could pick the wickets Avesh scalped 2 wickets while Sandeep was able to take just one wicket.

Hyderabad bowlers dominate

When Rajasthan came to bat it was like a nightmare they lost 2 wickets in an over and were in a fuss. Despite losing 2 wickets in an over Rajasthan was stabled and scored 60 runs in the powerplay. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag scored centuries and felt Rajasthan would surely win the match but a twist came in between as both lost their wickets and Hyderabad was back in the back in the game.

Hyderabad’s season campaigner Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was the hero of the match as he scalped 3 wickets and turned the scenario in the last over. Other bowlers like T Natrajan scalped 2 wickets and skipper Pat Cummins also picked 2 wickets. Hyderabad dominated overall in bowling and was looking good enough.

Last over thriller

Rajasthan needed 27 runs in the last three overs and were crucial overs it was a test for bowlers to bowl correct lengths and give the most dot balls. T Natarajan and Pat Cummins bowled brilliant overs and all were biting their nails and were tensed about what would happen in the last over. Ace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had a good day with the bowl came to bowl last over where 13 needed 6 balls.

Carribbean Batter Rowman Powell was quite confident to hit boundaries but Bhuvneshwar knows the situation of death overs so he bowled full-length bowls but still Powell tried to convert singles into doubles and smashed one four too. Now 2 needed 1 ball all had been done fingers crossed and were tensed about what would happen Bhuvi bowls a full toss and Powell misjudged the bowl and got lbw. Such an incredible finish which used to witness earlier was scripted again. Rajasthan lost the match by 1 run and were devastated losing a match by an inch. This was their second loss of the season.
