Gujarat Titans’ (GT) newly appointed skipper Shubman Gill would be eager to stamp his authority against the opposition teams. Shubman Gill doesn’t have ample experience of leading the side but he along with GT’s head coach Ashish Nehra can formulate strategies on the given day and outclass the opposition.
All eyes will be on the lethal right arm-speedster Umesh Yadav who will have to fill the shoes of Mohammed Shami (*injured) as Umesh not only has got express pace but is a seasoned campaigner. The peculiarity of GT is that they hunt in a pack and have ‘n’ match winners which makes them a team to beat.

Gary Kirsten was having an interaction with ESPNCricinfo. Gary Kirsten stated that Shubman Gill is very keen to do the job and said that GT will assist him and most probably Shubman will get the best out of his players. Gary Kirsten though pointed out that Shubman Gill will face tough challenges.
“I think the leadership role is going to be really important to Shubman Gill. I know he is really keen to do the job and we, as coaches, should just assist him and make sure he gets the best out of his players and is leading the team appropriately the way we want him to lead,” said Gary Kirsten.
“He’s got massive motivation and determination as an individual, which we have seen while playing for India. But like any new leader, he’s starting from scratch, and is going to face some challenges along the way and we, as coaches, will just have to assist him along the way,” he added.

The likes of Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan & David Miller have the knack of winning improbable contests as no target is safe against the trio. It won’t be wrong to say that GT won’t miss Hardik Pandya much as already they have got a like for like replacement present in the form of Vijay Shankar who can hit big hits and also can bowl couple of overs for the team if needed.
GT would be thinking playing the Australian star wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade instead of Wriddhiman Saha as Wade along with Shubman can demolish the opposition. It will be interesting to see whether the burden of captaincy brings the best out of Shubman Gill or we see the downfall of the star batter.
