IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Spoil The Party Of The Mighty Gujarat Titans (GT)

On Saturday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) faced each other one more time but the outcome was the same as the last match Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans once again and this time it was at the graveyard of bowlers at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Faf Du Plessis had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were quite ruthless with the ball in hand.

Somehow Gujarat was not aware that they could be trapped by the bowlers of Royal Challengers Bengaluru openers lost their wicket very early and it was a very slow start for Gujarat. In powerplay, Gujarat was able to score just 23 runs and lost 3 wickets seems like they haven’t prepared for the match, and were able to score just 147 onboard. In return, Bengaluru chased the target within 13.4 overs and won the match by 4 wickets.

Gujarat Titans (GT) had a terrible outing

After winning the toss Bengaluru was pretty confident that they would win this match and they proved it, Gujarat Titans were flopped in powerplay as openers Wriddhiman Saha and skipper Shubman Gill lost their wicket and runs were not that good on the scoreboard.

Powerplay was a disaster for Gujarat as they just scored 23 runs which is the lowest total of the season of powerplay. Every bowler was up to the mark and picked at least one wicket and this was the positive sign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru that their bowlers showed up and gave a solid performance.

David Miller and Shahrukh Khan steadied the ship of GT

After a disastrous powerplay, responsibility was on Proteas batter David Miller and  Shahrukh Khan to score runs and register some good runs onboard. Both played some good cricket and were trying to move on after a poor start and were quite successful in it. David Miller scored 30 runs and Shahrukh Khan scored 37 runs and both registered a 61-run important partnership which was the highlight of the first innings. This partnership was very important for Gujarat to stabilize their innings and get some runs.

A roller coaster chasing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru

At the end of the first innings Gujarat Titans were able to score just 147 runs but got all out, and the target was 148 runs. When Bengaluru came to chase they were on a roll both openers Virat Kohli and skipper Faf Du Plessis gave a blasting start and were dealing mostly in boundaries if we compare both team’s powerplay Royal Challengers Bengaluru was confident and scoring runs in boundaries while Gujarat was searching for their form and so they failed to score runs in the powerplay.

RCB scored 92 runs in the powerplay and seems like they will chase the target easily. Much-awaited twist was seen after the powerplay when Joshua Little started picking wickets Royal Challengers Bengaluru was standing still and witnessed which was unexpected wickets were on a roll and till Bengaluru scored 117 they had lost 6 wickets which created a fuss.

Dinesh Karthik saved the match and chased the target within 13.4 overs with that they kept their hopes alive for playoffs and they slid down Mumbai Indians to the last position of the table. Skipper Faf Du Plessis scored a half-century within 18 balls and was in good touch with the bat. Virat regained the top position and backed the Orange Cap once again after scoring 42 runs against Gujarat. Mohammed Siraj was adjourned was Player of the Match.
