Punjab Kings (PBKS) would be aiming to keep their winning run continue against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on 25th March. PBKS announced their arrival in IPL 2024 by defeating a strong DC side. PBKS’ dynamic all-rounder Sam Curran played a key role in the victory. The peculiarity of Sam Curran was that he didn’t panic even after playing a string of dot balls.
We should not forget the match winning cameo of Liam Livingstone who looked calm & composed. Liam Livingstone played an unbeaten knock of 38 runs in 21 balls and struck 2 fours and 3 sixes. PBKS’ batters panicked a bit during the death overs but Livingstone made sure that there are no more collapses.
PBKS’ fans would be disappointed with the performance of the likes of Jitesh Sharma & Shashank Singh who were dismissed cheaply. It was quite a shocker that PBKS’ management didn’t name the flamboyant all-rounder Sikandar Raza in the playing 11 as he is someone who could have contributed in all the 3 facets of the game.

Sam Curran was awarded the player of the match award for his brilliant 63 runs in 47 balls and struck 6 fours and 1 six. Sam Curran was quite happy to bat alongside the pinch hitter Liam Livingstone. Sam Curran was asked why he bowl a solitary over & he pointed out that the side has got a lot of options present and additions this time.
“Really pleased. Amazing way to start the tournament on our new home ground, nothing better, Those two Kuldeep & Axar are world-class bowlers and play a lot of cricket for India but we knew if we could take it deep, we had a chance, To bat with my great mate Liam Livingstone at the other end was special. At that stage, I had to take those risks and thankfully luck was on my side,” said Sam Curran.
“The wicket got slightly better under lights, the ball was travelling and not much spin and pace was coming on, We have got some great options this season and nice additions, maybe in Bangalore it will be a different thing, most importantly we got the win,” he added.
