Rajasthan Royals and his history with uncapped players having roped in Shubham Dubey for the 2024 season of IPL

Rajasthan Royals will be one of the franchises to look forward to as the IPL 2024 kicks off on March 22. The Royals famously won the inaugural season of the IPL way back in 2008, and has since failed to win a single edition since then.

Sanju Samson will be leading the franchise and this will be an important season for him, both as a captain, and as a player, as he would be vying for the wicketkeeper’s spot in the India squad for the T20 World Cup. The Royals have already got their bases covered with some of the best players in their lineup right from the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler with the bat , to Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Right from their very first season, the Rajasthan Royals have been always supportive of promoting young talent. Shane Warne guided a team full of youngsters like Yusuf Pathan and Swapnil Asnodkar to the IPL title in 2008. Even now there are people like Yashaswi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel or even Sanju Samson himself, who have risen through the ranks with the support from the Rajasthan Royals. Hence, we might expect a few uncapped players  like Shubham Dubey to shine in this IPL as well.

Shubham Dubey made headlines when he was bought for a whopping Rs 5.8 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, making one of the highest-priced uncapped players in auction history. He shone with the bat for Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023, where he slammed 221 runs at a strike rate of over 190. He can be used as an impact player to provide some lusty blows towards the latter stages of the innings.

Shubham Dubey is excited about his inclusion in the Rajasthan Royal’s squad and is looking forward to make a mark in this season of IPL if given a chance.

There is so much to learn from Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal & Dhruv Jurel- Shubham Dubey

Speaking to Sportskeeda exclusively, Shubham Dubey opened up on his expectations from the IPL 2024 season. The 29-year old shed light on wanting to learn as much as possible from the likes of skipper Sanju Samson and also take inspiration from the youngsters. He said :

“I am trying to incorporate the mindset that the likes of Sanju Samson have. The likes of him, Yashasvi, Dhruv Jurel  have done so well for India and there’s so much to learn from them. I am just trying to elevate my game to a new level,”

The commitment with which the Royals bid for Dubey suggests that he could straight away become a part of their playing XI in IPL 2024. They also probably need a finisher to share the load with West Indies star Shimron Hetmyer.

Shubham Dubey speaks about the India dream

Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel recently had an incredibly successful Test series for India and some of the credit goes to their development at the Royals. It would be natural for Shubham Dubey to think that a good IPL season could also propel him into the radar of the Indian team.

However, Dubey doesn’t want to think too far ahead and wants to focus on winning games for Rajasthan. He stated:

“Whatever I have learnt from life, I have realized the best thing is to put your head down and keep working hard. I just try to contribute the best I can in whichever game I play and help my team win. The focus right now would be to give my best to the Rajasthan Royals, whether I am playing or not playing, both on and off the field,”

Shubham Dubey is a massive believer in destiny and has had an experience of the same already when his hard work was rewarded with a big opportunity to play for the Royals. He believes in working hard and performing and leaving the rest to destiny.
