Delhi Capitals’ (DC) suffered their straight second defeat in the Tata IPL 2024. DC’s management once again ignored the dashing right handed batter Prithvi Shaw and instead of that Mitchell Marsh was seen opening the batting along with David Warner. Prithvi Shaw had a forgettable IPL 2023 edition but he has scored tons of runs in the domestic arena.
DC lost the match by 12 runs as once again their fragile middle order was exposed. Perhaps, the side needs to promote Abhishek Porel up the order rather than making him bat at No.6 position. DC needs to quickly get back to the winning ways as a couple of more defeats won’t keep the team in the good stead.
It doesn’t make sense due to the fact that Prithvi Shaw is in the dugout- Tom Moody
Tom Moody was having an interaction with ESPNCricinfo. Tom Moody was quite amazed that how Prithvi Shaw wasn’t a part of DC’s match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Tom Moody pointed out that there is no doubt that Prithvi Shaw hasn’t performed according to his potential but said that he can’t score runs from the dug out.
“It doesn’t make sense due to the fact that you’ve got an Indian international player (Prithvi Shaw) in the dugout. Yes, he hasn’t performed in the IPL like we had all hoped he would, but you can’t score runs from the dugout.”
I am surprised that Delhi Capitals are not playing Prithvi Shaw- Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer was seen interacting with ESPNCricinfo. Wasim Jaffer said that the dynamic right handed batter Prithvi Shaw played for Mumbai for most of the season and said that he is fit. Wasim Jaffer made a huge statement that punishing him and then the side losing the matches is not the way to go forward.
“Now that they have held onto him and not let him go into the auction, I’m surprised they’re not playing him. He’s played for Mumbai for most of the season, so you’d imagine that he’s fit. I’m surprised. Punishing him and then losing the games is not the way to go forward,” he added.
