Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be well aware of the fact that they cannot take Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lightly in their  opening match of Tata IPL 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 23rd March. All eyes though will be on KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer who would be roaring to make a mark. Shreyas Iyer recently was left out of BCCI’s list of contracted players and now will have to perform exceedingly well to make a case for himself in the marquee T20 WC 2024.

KKR though have been bolstered by the return of Gautam Gambhir who will work closely with the players as a mentor. Gautam Gambhir knows how to win IPL championships as previously in IPL 2012 & IPL 2014, he brought the silverware to KKR against all odds and everyone’s expectations.

The management would be thinking of promoting Andre Russell up the order as he had said in one of his interviews that he can be a better batter if he gets promoted up the order. Andre Russell has been in top notch after getting back to the national team as KKR fans would be hoping that he sets the tone by playing fearless brand of cricket.

I am in the best shape possible- Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer was seen interacting with the reporters ahead of KKR’s clash against the mighty Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Shreyas Iyer made it very clear that he is not thinking about the injury and what the doctor said. Shreyas Iyer pointed out that he has been hitting the balls and batting for long periods of time and his aim is to win the championship for KKR franchise.

“I don’t want to think about what the doctor has said, what the injury was because when you over-think, put your focus on the injury, and in that moment, forget about what you’re doing the best. So, I want to put all these things aside and focus on what’s there for me on the plate,” said Shreyas Iyer.

“I have ticked the boxes in every way possible so I am in high spirits. Right now, if I look at myself, I feel that I’m in the best shape possible. I played so many years in the IPL so it’s not that I am completely distant from it. Personally, my preparation has been top-notch,” he stated.

“I’ve been doing my training regularly, I’ve been hitting the balls, and I’ve been batting for longer periods of time. So, that is something I’m thriving on. I’m looking forward to winning the IPL. If you would ask any captain, they would have the same mentality. And that’s why you have to be in the present as much as possible,”  he added.
