On Thursday Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced each other for yet another incredible clash. Hyderabad is in the driving seat by scoring huge totals and having an aggressive approach from the start of the season.  The last time when they met Hyderabad posted IPL’s highest-ever total breaking its own’s total for the second time (287). This time toss was won by Faf Du Plessis who elected to bat first. Bengaluru scored 206 runs and set a target of 207 runs.

Hyderabad fell 35 runs short and lost the match openers failed to score big runs, fire guns Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma lost their wicket in the powerplay. SRH’s fragile batting line up was exposed as they were too much reliant on Travis Head. Perhaps they should bring Glenn Phillips in the playing 11 who can smash lusty blows at the back end of the innings.

Pat Cummins backs SRH players

In a post-match presentation, Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins backs his players and said that he is not disappointed with the performance but will keep the head high and will continue with the same approach in upcoming matches. Hyderabad lost the toss and was bowling first which is not their strength so while chasing their batting was exposed and players couldn’t contribute likewise when they batted first. After the powerplay, Hyderabad was 62/4. Southpaw openers both lost their wicket in the powerplay itself and the momentum was totally with Bengaluru who fell short by 35 runs.

Since in t20, the approach shouldn’t be aggressive sometimes need to play with the situation also, or else you can’t make the match. Aggressive cricket should only be played when the situation demands every match same approach will cost you badly. Pat Cummins had already said before the start of the season that we would play aggressive cricket and would keep the approach the same.

Pat Cummins said:

“Not an ideal night. Few over par with the ball and unfortunately lost a few wickets throughout our innings. I think it’s our strong suit. It’s not going to work every game. In one or two games where it hasn’t gone our way at the start, we still managed to get a good total. Still think this is the way forward for our boys,”

Bengaluru finally broke the losing streak and won the second match of the season. From Bengaluru Virat Kohli smashed yet another fifty but Rajat Patidar’s quickfire managed to score fifty and the team achieved the 200-run mark which cost them effective in defending it. The next match of Sunrisers Hyderabad is against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Gujarat Titans.
