Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor and former batter Gautam Gambhir was not happy when Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) match was hyped up and showed irrelevant things to get viewership. The rivalry between KKR & RCB is quite intense as we witnessed how KKR won the match against RCB by one run.
Gautam Gambhir holds his expression in every match and never celebrates loudly. In one interview he once said that he wanted to defeat RCB even in his dreams. Gautam Gambhir is quite fearless while making statements and we should not forget that he is a two time IPL winner as a captain for KKR in 2012 & 2014.

In an interview, he clarified that there is no such aggression or enthusiasm that brings joy to the face, every match is similar and he does not discriminate against any opponent. He says:
“Actually, I had said that many years ago. But that clip has been shown so many times. It’s okay, people want TRP, fair enough. They can have their TRP. They can have whatever share of PR, whatever they want,” Gautam Gambhir said.
“In that clip, I had said they (RCB) have quality and I wanted to beat them. Even today, I want to beat them, but it is not just RCB, honestly. It does not matter against which team I am playing, I want to beat every opposition. My passion is the same,” he added.
Gambhir also mentioned how players are ready and remain positive to win matches. He said:
“Every opposition would like to beat us as well. You tell me one thing, has any cricketer ever said that he does not want to beat a particular team? It is a very funny thing. Has any player ever mentioned that I want to beat the other 8 teams but not this team,?” the KKR mentor asked.
Gautam Gambhir on rivalry with DC, CSK or RCB
Afterward, he also cleared up the rivalry between Delhi Capitals (DC), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), or Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), he believes rivalry should be on the ground rather than off the field rivalry, cricket is such a game were we find arch rivals and sledding each other but the spirit of the game should be maintained.
“I want to defeat all 9 teams. All 9 teams want to defeat us. In the end, there will be only 1 winner, but to give such a twist to it that I want to beat them in my dreams. I want to beat every team even in my dreams. If our next match is against Gujarat, then I want to beat Gujarat in my dream,” the KKR mentor said.
In the end, he also mentioned not to hype up any match that has more content or is filled with entertainment match is just played between two teams but these promoters and broadcasters hype up more and convert it into rivalry, TRP is the mediator of the match and broadcasters.
“To be honest, I don’t have any personal rivalry with any team – be it Delhi, CSK or RCB. For me, I think that twist should finish because I feel that, and I have said that in that interview as well, RCB is a quality side and I respect that,” he concluded.
Kolkata Knight Riders become the first team to qualify for playoffs. Hope they finish on top of the table and crown as champions for the third time. Gautam Gambhir made a hattrick of playoff qualification as a mentor.
