On Saturday Mumbai Indians (MI) faced Delhi Capitals (DC) at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Mumbai was keen to win this match so that they could stay alive in the tournament. But since winning the toss all went against the odds bowling was very poor and conceded 257 runs. Such amateur kind of bowling cost Mumbai badly.
Still having a decent start in powerplay losing 3 big wickets of Rohit, Ishan, and Surya Mumbai remains an inch closer to finishing the final hurdle and lost the match by 10 runs. Tilak Varma shins brightly as he brings up his half-century but goes in vain.
Irfan Pathan shows discomfort for Hardik Pandya
Since this is a World Cup year and all players are trying to get shoo-in that 15 men’s squad each senior player is working hard and youngsters too are giving their level best. Selectors will take the call on whom to select, and in a few days, the squad will be declared.
Former Indian player now turned commentator Irfan Pathan slams Hardik Pandya and advises selectors that based on Ipl’s performance you can’t select him. Since Hardik Pandya has not international cricket in the past times much, an injury occurred during World Cup 2023 then after he was ruled out from the World Cup and didn’t play any cricket in that phase. He also said how Australia backs their players and tries to keep their players fit for such big events though they play IPL to regain their form but priority for them is ICC events, and so they dominate in ICC events and tournaments. Irfan said:
“Indian cricket needs to make it clear that they should not give him that much priority as they have given him so far because we still haven’t won the World Cup. And if you think you are a primary all-rounder, you need to make that kind of an impact at the international level. We are getting confused between the IPL performances and the international performances.”
Hardik is going through a purple patch and needs to bounce back as soon as possible since he is been appointed as the skipper of Mumbai Indians things are not going accordingly and he is not able to plan the strategy which is costing him badly. Currently, he has scored 197 runs with the bat, and in bowling, the economy rate touches almost 12 which is a sign of concern.
