Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) spin trio of Suyash Sharma, Varun Chakaravarthy & Sunil Narine will be key at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Suyash Sharma impressed everyone in IPL 2023 where he took 10 wickets in 11 matches. Suyash Sharma was KKR’s third highest wicket-taker in the tournament as he showed a lot of promise and good control over his line & length.
All eyes will be on the destructive finisher Rinku Singh who created a name for himself in the previous edition and now is banging the door for ICC T20 WC 2024 tourney. It looks unlikely that Rinku Singh will be promoted up the order as he is someone who can play a fiery cameo of 30 odd runs in 10 balls which is priceless in the modern cricket.
Suyash Sharma impressed a lot- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel. Aakash Chopra stated that it is a huge opportunity for the spinner Suyash Sharma in IPL 2024 edition. Aakash Chopra though pointed out that it won’t be easy for the sly spinner in the upcoming edition as this time all the 10 teams are evenly matched and highly competitive.
“I see a big opportunity for Suyash Sharma to just grow in strength and stature. It was the first season last time and he impressed a lot. However, second-season blues is a real problem. So it will be worth watching how he utilizes that opportunity,” said Aakash Chopra.
Sunil Narine’s form a concern
KKR needs to use Sunil Narine smartly as his batting stats don’t look that much promising which is a huge concern for the team. He should not be promoted up the order as already they have the services of Nitish Rana & Venkatesh Iyer who can dismantle the opposition on the given day.
Sunil Narine is no longer a threat for the opposition as the spinner took 11 wickets in IPL 2023 edition and wasn’t that foxy which hurt the team. KKR’s mentor Gautam Gambhir and skipper Shreyas Iyer perhaps needs to use Narine as a secret weapon as his line & length are getting quite predictable and as a result he was also taken to the cleaners.
