Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS). LSG won the match by 21 runs and the dynamic speedster Mayank Yadav was given the player of the match award. Mayank Yadav bowled thunderbolts and took  3 wickets and gave away only 27 runs in his 4 over spell as his line & length was quite impeccable.

LSG’s skipper Nicholas Pooran didn’t panic even when the dashing opening pair of  Jonny Bairstow & Shikhar Dhawan stitched a 102 runs opening stand. The decision to bring in Mayank Yadav late into the attack did wonders for the team as his sheer pace surprised the opposition team and he astounded everyone by bowling perfect bouncers.

It won’t be wrong to say that LSG now won’t miss the services of the deadly right arm pacer Mark Wood as Mayank Yadav was constantly bowling in excess of 145 km/hr. It will be interesting to see how does Mayank Yadav fare against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on 2nd April at Bengaluru.

I was visualizing my debut for the past one-two years- Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav was having an interaction with the reporters after the match. Mayank pointed out that all of his nervousness went away after he bowled the first ball. Mayank stated that he idolizes the legendary pacer Dale Steyn and said that injuries are part of a fast bowler’s life and are like your friends.

“I was visualing my debut for the past one-two years, how my first delivery will be like. I have heard from the others that there can be nervousness on debut. But after the first ball, all my nervousness went away. Everyone said to not take too much pressure, just bowl on the stumps, and use the pace,” said Mayank Yadav.

“Speed is thrilling. I have always loved that from my childhood. Generally, I have always loved everything with speed be it rockets, plan or superbikes. I liked jets as a kid. I had the thing in my mind to make my life around these things and hopefully it came as a pace bowler.” said the lethal speedster.

“I look up to only one first bowler, Dale Steyn. I idolise him. Physios have always told be that injuries are part of a fast bowler’s life and they  are like your friends. In the past one-and-a-half years I have missed cricket due to injuries. Last season I missed IPL due to injury. I have focused on training, recovery and physical fitness,” he stated.

“A couple of years before the IPL mega auctions, I was playing for Delhi against Uttar Pradesh in Vijay Hazare back. Vijay Dahiya sir saw him asked for some of my bowling videos. He was the one who was in talk with Gautam Gambhir and from there I got picked by LSG,” he added.
