The orange cap holder in 2021 was Ruturaj Gaikwad. He scored 635 runs by smashing a century and four half-centuries. A video was posted by a fan on Twitter where Gaikwad was asked about an anonymous fact regarding Dhoni, to which he replied:

“He sleeps very late at night prior to match day especially, and wakes up very late. And I picked it up actually in 2019 with the team and I asked about it and he said he doesn’t want to get up early and think when you have thoughts about the game. So he prefers to sleep as late as possible. So that’s something I am trying to do as well,”

The most successful captain of the IPL is MS Dhoni having 133 wins in 226 games and also the first one to lead the franchise (CSK) in 200 matches in the previous year. This 42-year-old was and is still continuing to be firm and strong in his 17th IPL season (2024), possessing a remarkable strike rate of 260.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is coming off a sensational century in CSK’s last outing of IPL 2024

In the last outing between CSK and LSG, Ruturaj Gaikwad made a fabulous century. The 27-year-old remained undisputed to lead his team to a huge 210/4 in 20 overs scoring 108 off 60 balls. But his efforts were futile as LSG chased down the milestone with ease, registering a win by six wickets with three balls to spare.

Nonetheless, Gaikwad’s century was his third in his IPL career and stretched his score to 349 in IPL 2024. The distinguished batsman is second to Virat Kohli in the Orange Cap list.

Regardless of Gaikwad’s steadiness, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are struggling in the fifth position on the points table, with four wins out of their eight fixtures.

CSK will focus on defending their title against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, April 28.
