Parthiv Patel, former Indian wicket-keeper batter, didn’t hold back his criticism of Glenn Maxwell, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricketer. Parthiv Patel‘s remarks followed Glenn Maxwell’s disappointing performance in last Saturday’s IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Parthiv Patel played as a left-handed wicket-keeper batsman for India. Parthiv Patel impressed with his fielding and early batting, even contributing to India’s 2016 Asia Cup win. Since retiring in 2020, Parthiv Patel has donned new hats, scouting talent for the Mumbai Indians and offering his insights as a cricket commentator.

Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell entered IPL 2024 on a hot streak in international cricket. Despite his strong international form, he’s struggled mightily for Royal Challengers Bangalore, scoring only 32 runs in six innings with three ducks. This disappointing performance starkly contrasts his usual IPL impact, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, with their passionate fans and a high price tag of 11 crore rupees, seems to have put a lot of pressure on Maxwell. He even took a break from the tournament to try and find his form again.

Glenn Maxwell In IPL 2024

This season, the Australian player hasn’t been batting well and even got benched for a couple of matches. In eight games, he only scored 36 runs, averaging just 5.14. Despite being paid 11 Crores by RCB, his performance has been disappointing. Glenn Maxwell has looked in two minds as whether to attack or defend which has hurt the franchise massively.

Glenn Maxwell had a big chance to get back in form during an easy chase against Gujarat Titans (GT). RCB bowlers did well in the first innings, holding GT to a low score of 147 in 19.3 overs. Faf du Plessis, the RCB captain, played amazingly, scoring 63 runs off just 24 balls. This helped RCB reach 92 runs within the first six overs, making the chase look simple for them.

After a couple of wickets fell, Glenn Maxwell came to bat when the scoreboard showed 103/3. He managed to hit a boundary early, but couldn’t continue with that momentum. Unfortunately, he got out in the eighth over while trying to play a big shot against Joshua Little.

Finisher For RCB Against GT

RCB went from 92/0 to 117/6 in a short span, causing a sudden collapse and putting themselves under pressure. GT bowlers Joshua Little (4/45) and Noor Ahmad (2/23) were the ones who turned the game around with their bowling performance.

Veteran batsman Dinesh Karthik (21*) rescued RCB from a tough spot, guiding them to victory in the 14th over alongside Swapnil Singh (15*). With this win, RCB secured their fourth victory in 11 games, climbing from the bottom to the seventh position on the points table.
