The batting coach of Mumbai Indians (MI), Kieron Pollard mentioned that the ace pacer of MI Jasprit Bumrah will be in action without getting any rest ahead of the ICC World Cup 2024, even though Mumbai Indians (MI) are far off from getting qualified for the playoffs.  Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the biggest positives for MI who has performed exceedingly well.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) submitted their loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday. Suryakumar Yadav (102 not out) smashed his second IPL century to help chase down the target score of 174 with 2.4 overs still left to spare. This win saved MI to put a stop to their four-match losing streak and register their fourth win out of 12 matches.

Kieron Pollard gives a massive update on Jasprit Bumrah

Pollard told the media in the post-match when he was asked about Jasprit Bumrah getting rest from the prevailing matches of Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.

“I certainly haven’t had any discussions about that, I don’t think that’s my role and function at this point in time. But let’s see what happens. We are all here to play an entire IPL. Sometimes when we think too far ahead of different things, thinking about World Cups, all these things could affect performances even from before the team was selected,” said Kieron Pollard.

“For us and in our camp, the most important thing is finishing off the IPL and let’s see what happens after that. When he leaves the IPL and he goes into the Indian team, I think that’s where that concession will take place,” he added.

Suryakumar Yadav is very aggressive- Kieron Pollard

Mumbai Indian’s (MI) will be playing their last IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at home on May 17. Pollard mentioned that as a batting coach himself, it is quite challenging to coach an all-rounder like Suryakumar to hone his batting skills.

“He’s one, who, by nature, instinctively, is very aggressive. He wants to take the bowler’s on more often than not. At times it’s just a matter of understanding the situation and respecting the new ball when it’s moving around,” said Kieron Pollard.

“If the conditions are not suitable for a certain amount of shot making, having that discipline in order to be there for a period of time and they’ll get into your work,” he stated.

“I think that would be the hardest thing – to try to curb the attacking instinct. But it’s not something you want to curb too much and get them in a defensive frame of mind because of the direction the sport is heading now in terms of the amount of runs being scored,” he added.
