Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) astonishingly won the toss & elected to bat first against Gujarat Titans (GT). The visitors managed to score 162 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. GT skipper Shubman Gill marshalled his troops smartly as the decision to make Mohit Sharma bowl during the 10-20 overs did wonders for the team as he took 3 wickets and conceded 25 runs in his 4 over spell.

Complete team performance by Gujarat Titans’ (GT) bowling unit

GT made two changes to their combination as they brough back the left arm chinaman Noor Ahmad in the team in place of Spencer Johnson and Darshan Nalkande replaced the left arm spinner R Sai Kishore. Noor Ahmad got the big fish as he castled the stumps of the destructive left handed batter Travis Head. Noor Ahmad had a productive spell as he took 1 wicket and conceded 32 runs in his 4 over spell.

During the last 5 overs, SRH’s batting unit managed to score 40 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. It won’t be wrong to say that SRH are way too dependent on the services of the swashbuckling right handed batter Heinrich Klaasen who this time couldn’t assert his dominance over the opposition team’s bowlers. Not a single batter of SRH scored 30 odd runs which was quite astounding given the surface didn’t have significant demons in it.

Steep challenge for SRH

SRH needs atleast 2-3 wickets in the powerplay overs as there are high chances that the surface might ease up during the chase. All eyes will be on GT skipper Shubman Gill who so far hasn’t looked in great touch. He was dismissed quite cheaply against CSK and his dismissal proved to be the turning point of the match. Perhaps, Wriddhiman Saha should take the role of aggressor during the run chase as a good powerplay of around 50 runs can put the hosts in the driver’s seat.

SRH skipper Pat Cummins & head coach Daniel Vettori will have to be smart with their tactics as chasing 163 runs is not at all a tough job in the modern cricket. It won’t be wrong to say that the opening spell of Bhuvneshwar Kumar will hold the key as if he gets rid of Shubman then we have a game on cards. GT fans would be hoping that Shubman Gill plays his natural game rather than getting into the shell as the middle order of GT is not that reliable as the likes of Vijay Shankar &  B Sai Sudharsan can’t take the team out of the muddle.
