Gujarat Titans’ (GT) experienced campaigner Mohit Sharma once again foxed the batters with his variations. Mohit Sharma had a dream spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as he took 3 scalps and gave away 25 runs in his 4 over spell. Mohit Sharma is making sure that GT are not missing the services of Mohammed Shami (*injured) as Mohit’s variations are quite hard to pick.

GT’s bowlers applied brakes on SRH’s scoring as in the last 5 overs, the SRH scored 40 runs and lost 3 wickets. GT under the leadership of skipper Shubman Gill and head coach Ashish Nehra are looking threatening as SRH had a lot of pinch hitters present in the side as a total in excess of 180 would have made the contest an enthralling one.

GT’s next challenge is against the unpredictable Punjab Kings (PBKS) on 4th April at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and the hosts would be keen to make the most of the winning momentum. GT’s decision to promote David Miller at no.4 position actually changed the course of the match as he played a fine knock of 44 runs in 27 balls and struck 4 fours and 2 sixes.

The important thing is how to use the variation according to the game situation- Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma won the player of the match award and was seen in the post match presentation. Mohit Sharma pointed out that bowlers do have variations but it matters when and how to use it. Mohit Sharma stated that dew is uncontrollable and they have to practice bowling with the wet ball. Mohit Sharma said that when the match gets over, he likes to reflect where he did well and where didn’t.

“Thank you sir for reminding me that I’m getting older day by day. Practice is normal but the important thing is how to use the variation according to the game situation. Bowlers do have variations but it matters when and how to use it,” said Mohit Sharma.

“It’s important when you have two balls in mind, the batters are also ready, they are ready for the slower bouncer but they are not ready for the slower short ball wide of the wicket so I mix and match. Dew is uncontrollable and we practice bowling with a wet ball,” he stated.

“Rashid and Noor bowled well, we went for a few runs in the back end but we came back well in the final few overs. “When it’s going good, I enjoy. When the match gets over, I like to reflect where I did well and where I didn’t,” he added.
