Among Indian fans, David Warner enjoys greater popularity than some of the local celebrities. The Australian opener has experienced ups and downs in his professional career, but he has worked hard to cultivate a positive relationship with the fans. David Warner praised the affection he receives from Indian fans and expressed his love for the positivity he encounters there.

The Australian did, however, have an uneventful departure from the team, which happened gradually, even though he led the team to victory in the 2016 Indian Premier League and amassed a huge run total for the Orange Army. His bad form and regular losses for SRH led to his first firing as captain in the middle of the 2021 season. After Warner lost five of the first six games of the season, Kane Williamson, a batter from New Zealand, took his place as captain.

During the latter part of the season, Warner was not only let go but was also blocked on social media by the franchise. Warner appeared dejected, even going so far as to carry drinks for his teammates during games. SRH had three victories and eleven defeats, finishing last. Warner did not play more offensively; he scored just 195 runs in eight innings with two fifties at an average of 24.38 and a below-average strikeout rate of just over 107.

David Warner Shares His Thoughts Regarding Leaving SRH

David Warner talked about the tension in his relationship with SunRisers and expressed his love and respect for Indian cricket fans and supporters while he was speaking with R Ashwin on his YouTube show. The Australian player revealed that he intends to purchase a home in Hyderabad. In the IPL 2021 season, Warner was the team’s captain from the beginning. Midway through the season, he lost his job as captain and was benched due to subpar play in the second half of the campaign. During the IPL 2021 season, SunRisers and David Warner’s relationship deteriorated, bringing an end to one of the most cherished eras in the tournament’s history.

“It did (hurt) because it was a sense of like hurt for fans. The fans are the most important relationship you could have. With the engagement with the fans that I had, with the team had was very good,” said David Warner.

“Not sure why I was blocked. But, I did engage with a lot of fans on the social media side for SRH. I did feel it was my duty to engage with the fans, making sure they keep coming back. That’s what is most important. But from the blocking point of view, I don’t know. I have been sitting on it for about 5 years. It was bizarre. At the end of the day, I still got fans who come onto my page and talk to everyone. So it’s great,” he added.
