Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be aware of the steep challenge when they would clash against the mighty Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on 29th March at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. There has been a lot of hype around KKR’s head coach Chandrakant Pandit. Chandrakant Pandit is recognized one of the most finest coaches in domestic circuit though he didn’t had a fruitful IPL 2023 edition with KKR.

As the match is in Bengaluru, we can expect yet another high scoring thriller as both the teams bat quite deep and have a lot of pinch hitters which can dismantle the opposition on the given day. All eyes though once again will be on the star right handed batter Virat Kohli who looked in sublime touch against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Guys weren’t happy with certain things that were going on and lot of the times, it was a tough challenging room- David Wiese on the coaching style of Chandrakant Pandit

David Wiese was having an interaction with “Hitman for Hire: A year in the life of a franchise cricketer”. David Wiese pointed out that the overseas players weren’t happy with the coaching method of the head coach Chandrakant Pandit. David Wiese stated that it was a tough challenging room for the players.

“There were certain issues going on behind the scenes in the team. Guys weren’t happy with certain things that were going on, and a lot of the times, it was a tough changing room. There was a new coach coming in and he liked to do things a certain way, and that didn’t sit well with the players,” said David Wiese.

“Guys were frustrated because a lot changed, and the coach brought in things that he thought would bring success. But as an overseas player, they sometimes don’t sit well. He’s known in India as a fairly militant type of coach, a strict disciplinarian.  The overseas guys who’ve played all over the world don’t need someone coming in and telling him how to behave and what to wear and what to do. I was chill with it, but there were players more stubborn than me,” he added.

For me personally, the result of the game didn’t matter that much- David Wiese

David Wiese pointed out that he got pulled into personal performances rather than the result of the game. David Wiese though heaped praise on the destructive left handed batter Rinku Singh when he struck 5 back to back sixes against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 edition.

“As the tournament goes on, you kind of sense whether you have a shot at qualifying or not. It’s not about whether you’re playing; it’s just about spending another couple of weeks away from family. For me personally, the result of the game didn’t matter that much, but I still got pulled into personal performances.” said David Wiese.

“As a player, you appreciate it when guys do well. Rinku Singh smacks five sixes – you can’t not appreciate that. It’s just that the result doesn’t have much emphasis anymore. You don’t sit there nervous about whether you’re going to win. And you start investing in the guys’ personal performances instead,” he added.
