Pakistan’s connoisseur player and pacer Wasim Akram recalls his old conversation with Sandeep Sharma when he used to do commentary for IPL, Sandeep used to talk with him and Wasim used to give him feedback and some tips regarding bowling correct lines and lengths. Sandeep Sharma who is flying high showcased his talent in IPL but never considered him in the Indian team. Sandeep Sharma‘s services are very few for the country so later he couldn’t make it and continued playing domestic cricket.
Wasim Akram recalls his conversation with Sandeep Sharma
Wasim Akram was also one of the part of commentary panels of IPL earlier that time a young player was having a conversation with him he was none other than Sandeep Sharma, who used to take tips for bowling and take feedback about his bowling. Wasim Akram says:
“When I was doing commentary in the IPL, a lot of these youngsters would come to me and ask questions. Sandeep (Sharma) had also asked me some questions related to swing. I told him, ‘You’re such a good bowler. Just concentrate on getting wickets.’. After that, he developed the slower bouncer and the outside off-yorker,”
Sandeep Sharma who is an underrated bowler has impressed everyone in this IPL too scalping 10 wickets with an economy of 7.82.
Wasim Akram expresses pity for Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma has been an expectational bowler over the years but couldn’t make his place in the team. After the squad declaration of the Indian Team for the T20 World Cup Wasim Akram feels Sandeep Sharma deserves to be in that squad his experience surely help the Indian team. He says:
“Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it to India’s T20 World Cup squad. He has bowled brilliantly in the death overs. He has a good yorker, slower bouncer, and can swing the new ball. I’ve known him since he played in the U19 World Cup, where he swung the ball like a boomerang. I am so happy for him that he is performing well, that too under pressure. He is very underrated. Maybe he doesn’t have a good PR team. Today, if you don’t have a PR team, you’re gone,”
