Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has been open about the recent onfield spat between LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka and KL Rahul in IPL 2024. Ambati Rayudu also believed in the stand that the on field spat between LSG skipper KL Rahul and owner Sanjiv Geonka after a horrifying loss to SRH within 9.4 overs chasing 167 was a picture that didnt go well with the individual player who is an India -capped player with the viewers who follow cricket and even the players who want to play cricket in future.
Ambati Rayudu firmly stated that the direct contact between the owner and the skipper should be avoided the direct contact and the assistant coach should place an important wheel in between conversations between the owner and the skipper which would balance the things between them and also look nice to the viewers when the camera’s are panned on them.

Former Indian cricketers Ambati Rayudu gave his opinion on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka having an animated chat with skipper KL Rahul after their loss to the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). In a video that has gone viral on social media, fans have been questioning Goenka for his reaction and have sympathized with Rahul.
Goenka was seen in a heated discussion with Rahul just after SRH had thumped LSG by 10 wickets, chasing down 166 inside 10 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday (May 8).
Ambati Rayudu believes it is high time that players should be protected from having direct contact with the stakeholders of franchises and suggested appointing a cricket manager for the same. Responding to a Sportskeeda query on the ongoing debate about the conversation between Goenka and KL Rahul, here’s what Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports Press Room:
“To see an Indian player like that is quite disrespectful towards the player because we know we give everything. It was very emotional moment to see KL Rahul like that in the video. I feel that this has been happening for a long time with so many teams and Indian players need to appoint a cricketing manager for every team*. There should be a bridge between the owners, the cricketing management and the players.”
Ambati Rayudu also added a tongue-in-cheek reply to showcase his sense of humor.
“Maybe Rahul was telling the owner that Hyderabad biryani is better than Lucknow Biryani (laughs) Maybe that’s what the conversation is about,” he continued.
KL Rahul seemed rattled during the conversation with the LSG owner and understandably so as his team had just conceded a target of 166 in just 9.4 overs, thanks to a blitzkrieg from Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Ambati Rayudu believes it is high time that players should be protected from having direct contact with the stakeholders of franchises and suggested appointing a cricket manager for the same.
What lies ahead for LSG
While LSG may have lost their last match, they still remain in the race for the playoffs, but need to win their remaining two matches by good margin and hope other results go their way as well. LSG will first play Delhi Capitals on Tuesday (May 14) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi before they face Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in their final league stage match on Friday (May 17).
Lucknow Super Giants still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs with 16 points and will hope that more than on field conversations they would rise their on field game to move a step ahead in IPL 2024.
