Former South African international and IPL legend AB De Villiers played for Royal Challengers Bangalore for the major part of his career in the league. Mr. 360 was known to hit sixes at will and trouble the bowlers by using the crease which made it very difficult for the bowlers to bowl to him at any given situation.

Born on 17th February 1984 AB De Villiers made his debut in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League. Since then he has played 184 matches scoring 5162 runs with a strike rate of 151.7 and his highest score being 133*. AB De Villiers’ most successful season came in 2016 when he scored 687 runs with a strike rate of 168.75.

AB De Villiers has played for Delhi Capital before playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He didn’t get much success for Delhi Daredevils which was the franchise back then. He later dominated the league when he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

AB De Villiers says he does not mind the impact player rule.

Speaking in a video on YouTube, AB De Villiers said :

“It is the batter’s game at the moment. They are having a feast and it doesn’t help that the wickets have been incredibly good at the IPL. I was excited when it was introduced. It’s too early for me to call it but I personally don’t see too much harm to it,” said AB de Villiers.

There has been a lot of buzz about the pros and cons of the impact player rule, but it was helped emerging talents like Ashutosh Sharma to come express themselves and showcase their talent in the Indian Premier League.
He further said that if the players have a problem with the rule they can always change or tweak it rather than scrapping the rule.

Impact player rule this season

Impact player rule this season has helped the batting side most of the times as it deepens the batting line up. Teams have batsmen lined up even after their 7th wicket has fallen. This gives an advantage to the batting team making it difficult for the bowling team’s captain and bowlers to execute their plans in the game.

A few player have been vocal about the fact that the impact player rule is in the favour of batsmen and makes it more difficult for the bowlers to be in the game. They feel white ball is dominated by the batsmen and the margin or error for the bowlers is next to none in the modern game.
