Pat Cummins led the SRH in the 2024 Indian Premier League, according to Shahbaz Ahmed. He praised Pat Cummins’s leadership and reiterated that the team has so far enjoyed having him as captain. Following KKR and RR, SRH became the third team to earn a postseason berth.
At a staggering Rs 20.50 Crores, SRH acquired Pat Cummins, making him the second most expensive player in IPL history. Before the season began, he was named the team’s captain. His leadership was crucial in turning around the team’s performance. Shahbaz, the all-round player for SRH, praised Pat Cummins and said he always supported the bowlers.
As a bowler himself, he said he has always inspired those around him. He also gave gratitude to Daniel Vettori, the coach of SRH, and Cummins for fostering a supportive environment within the team. Based on his assessment, the team has been playing with a feeling of freedom and minimal pressure.

Shahbaz Ahmed credited Pat Cummins for creating a great environment within the SRH camp. SunRisers became the 3rd team to qualify for the playoffs after KKR and RR. He said :
“If I talk about myself whenever Pat throws the ball to me, he always backs me. This sort of helps me to soak in pressure well and even if the ball goes to the boundary, he doesn’t say anything and keeps motivating all bowlers. He and the coach have created such an environment that no player in the camp ever feels that there’s any sort of pressure. The players are playing freely, we enjoy playing under his captaincy and that has what helped us to perform well,” Shahbaz said.
Due to their record-breaking campaign, the SunRisers have emerged as a formidable force this year. The timing of their bowling unit’s peak has also been ideal, as evidenced by the impressive ball-handling of pacers like Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and T Natarajan. With their aggressive batting style, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have been the two cornerstones of their success.
In order to advance to the playoffs, SRH would like to lock up the second place in the points table. SunRisers will be hoping that RR, who has lost their past four games, loses to KKR. They’ll also be anticipated to prevail in Sunday’s game against PBKS on May 19.
