West Indies cricket team would be over the moon after thrashing India in the 5th T20I match. Skipper Rovman Powell‘s tactics were spot on as the bowlers learned from 4th T20I match bashing and this time bowled impeccable lines & lengths. Throughout the T20I series, Rovman Powell played effective cameos at the back end of the innings.

West Indies’ batters toyed with India’s bowling lineup. The hosts quite easily chased 166 runs and made a statement that they are not a finished product. The likes of Nicholas Pooran & Brandon King carefully negated the threat of the left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav which proved to be the turning point of the contest.

There was a lot at stake- Rovman Powell

During the post-match presentation, Rovman Powell got a bit emotional after winning the T20I Series. The pinch hitter, Rovman Powell pointed out that the side had a meeting prior to the decider. Rovman Powell thanked the fans for supporting them.

“It is difficult to put words. Even adjectives are difficult to put here. There was a lot at stake. We sat down and had a meeting last evening. The people in the Caribbean were longing for something nice. Credit to the coaching side. We could have easily panicked after the loss. Our plans were good,” said Rovman Powell.

“I am very big on individual performances. If one can perform, the team will benefit. Credit to the bowling unit they controlled this powerful batting lineup from India. A lot of credit has to go to the fans. When the chips were down, they supported us. Thanks to everyone for supporting us,” he added.

Delight for West Indies

West Indies would  be pumped up with this triumph despite this being India’s second string squad. It won’t be wrong to say that Nicholas Pooran’s decision to step down from captaincy did wonders for the batter. The swashbuckling left handed batter unleashed attack on the opposition just like when he recently represented MI New York in MLC 2023.

India on the other hand would be worried as the likes of Sanju Samson couldn’t make a case for himself. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel will have to be smart in naming India’s skipper for T20 WC 2024 as Hardik Pandya’s tactics were quite questionable throughout the series.
