Indian national cricket team asserted their dominance over West Indies in the opening Test match. The dynamic left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal had a dream debut. Yashasvi Jaiswal seemed in complete control of the match and showed immense mental application.
First of all, the young Yashasvi Jaiswal got selected in the Mumbai under – 16 squads followed by India under-19s. Jaiswal was the highest run-scorer ( 318 ) and player of the tournament at the Under-19 Asia Cup 2018, which India won. In 2019, he scored 294 runs in 07 matches, including four half-centuries, in the under-19 tri-series in England, which also featured Bangladesh.

Dinesh Karthik was having an interaction with Cricbuzz and stated that Yashasvi Jaiswal was solid in his defense and pointed out that the batter carefully negated the threat of Rakheem Cornwall. Dinesh Karthik heaped praise on the skipper Rohit Sharma for his 10th Test ton and
“He (Jaiswal) is batting on a different planet in many ways because he is very solid in his defense. Rakheem Cornwall troubled him a lot in the morning. But he went through that phase, ensured that he didn’t lose his wicket and then when the opportunity came, he pounced on it,” said Dinesh Karthik.
“They added 229 runs for the first wicket. The last time there was a hundred-run opening partnership, it was between KL and Mayank, and that came in Centurion. It seems like a long time ago, 22 innings ago. This could be the beginning of something special as an opening partnership for India,” he stated.
“He (Rohit) did well in white-ball cricket as an opener and has just taken that confidence in Test cricket and decided ‘I will just play the way that I want to play.’ In England, he said that his plan was to leave as many balls as possible. That is the mindset, the clarity, and arguably you can say it (Tests) is his best suit now,” he added.
