Little Master Sunil Gavaskar is disappointed after Ravichandran Ashwin commented on team India players that the players are just colleagues. Ravichandran Ashwin was blatantly ignored in the recent ICC WTC 2021-23 final which raised a lot of eyebrows.
The chumminess among the top players of the Indian Cricket Team has taken a new form in current times. They are no longer friends now but just mere teammates. In the earlier generation of the team, the bonds between players extended even to best friends, which is not the case anymore in the current team.

Sunil Gavaskar was having an interaction with Indian Express and felt sad as players should be able to talk to each other while they are not on the field. They should be able to communicate freely about how they feel.
“It’s a sad thing because you should be able to get together after play ends and maybe not talk about the game but talk about music, maybe talk about the films you like, maybe talk about your interest in space,” said Sunil Gavaskar.
But if that is not what is happening, that is disappointing. Having said that, the new thing that started 20 years back or longer is that every player gets a single room. That too can be a factor …”, he added.
Ravichandran Ashwin also expressed, how lonely a cricketer feels in modern times, while talking to the Indian Express. Ashwin had also stated,
“Once upon a time when cricket was played, all your teammates were friends. Now, they are colleagues. There’s a big difference because here people are there to advance themselves and to stride ahead of another person sitting to your right or left. So, nobody’s got the time to say, ‘okay, boss what are you up to’?”, said Ravichandran Ashwin.
