IND vs WI: “I Think The Guys Are Moving In The Right Direction”- Brian Lara Optimistic Of West Indies Giving A Tough Competition To India

India & West Indies are all set to lock horns against each other on 12th July for 2 Test match series commencing from 12th July. Brian Lara pointed out that India is a tough team to beat in any conditions. Brian Lara also stated that the Men in Maroon are gelling quite nicely.

India would be keen to start afresh after the ICC 2021-23 WTC final debacle. All eyes will be on skipper Rohit Sharma as his captaincy is under the radar as according to some reports, it is assumed that his captaincy would be snatched if the side doesn’t perform well against Caribbean.

India are one of the top teams in the World- Brian Lara

Brian Lara was having an interaction with the media and was aware of the fact that India is a team to beat irrespective of the conditions. Brian Lara had faith in the skipper Kraigg Braithwaite and said that the team is ably led by the batter.

“We have two very important Test matches which start the two-year cycle (World Test Championships) for us, it is against India. At home and away from home, they are one of the top teams in the world,” said Brian Lara.

“I think the guys are moving in the right direction, in terms of where we started the camp and where we are. It is just a few days off from the first match at Dominica, but it’s a young group, ably lead by Kraigg Brathwaite,” he stated.

Brian Lara stated that it’s an opportunity for the young Caribbean players to showcase their credentials against a top team and said that playing against India can bring the best out of them.

“But I feel that some of the guys can come into their own in this series, it is a tough opposition but I feel that’s the way we can get the best out of them,” he added.

“Great capable players, young and of course, you would have loved if they had a lot more experience in the first-class arena but looking at their style of play and attitude, I believe they do have what it takes to perform at the highest level,” he added.
