On the fourth ball of his first over, Arshdeep gets an inside edge off Reeza Hendricks’ bat and the ball goes straight into the stumps getting him a wicket. On the very next ball, Arshdeep gets Rassie van der Dussen plumbed in front of the stumps getting him out LBW on a Golden Duck.
Continuing on this performance, Arshdeep picked up 3 more wickets and finished the inning with his career best figures of 5/37 in 10 overs which also got him the Man of the Match Award and helped India thump the hosts by eight wickets.
I visualized myself getting five wickets- Arshdeep Singh
In a recent video posted by BCCI, Arshdeep Singh was seen speaking to Avesh Khan after his incredible performance in the 1st ODI between India and South Africa.
“It will seem like I am making this up, but before sleeping yesterday, I visualized myself winning the Player of the Match award, getting five wickets and doing my aeroplane celebration. I just try to be in a positive mindset and even the support staff helps me in that no matter what the result. Just focusing on doing all the good things and I am feeling really good.”
He further added:
“Feeling really great and I have to say that the photoshoot I did with you gave me a lot of motivation (Avesh laughs). It made me push to do well. The plan was just to bowl in the line of the stumps and get batters LBW or bowled. There was enough help in the pitch.”
