The two stalwarts of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma would be keen to dictate the terms against the mighty Pakistan cricket team. Virat Kohli once again will have to do the bulk of scoring if the side wants to put a mammoth score on the board.
The side is already missing the services of KL Rahul for the first two matches as the batter is not 100 % fit. All eyes will be on Shreyas Iyer who would be eager to prove everyone wrong by playing a terrific knock and at the same time would be eyeing a World Cup 2023 slot.
Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma have always come good against Pakistan- Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh was seen having an interaction with India Today and said that the likes of Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma would be under pressure when India & Pakistan lock horns against each other on 2nd September at Pallekele. Harbhajan Singh pointed out that Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma would be keen to showcase their talent.
“There’s always pressure on senior players. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma need to lead from the front. There will be huge pressure on Kohli and Rohit to perform because they are the most senior players. But they’ve always come good against Pakistan and hopefully, they will come good tomorrow as well,” said Harbhajan Singh.
“I believe India must be ready for this game. They’ve been practicing hard. On the last tour of West Indies, many players like Rohit and Virat were not part of the series. But India versus Pakistan is always a special game. It’s a high-pressure game. Kohli, Rohit and the other guys will be very keen to showcase their talent,” he added.
Enthralling contest on Cards
The Men in Blue are slight favorites to win the contest against Pakistan as they have a long batting line up and the rise of the lethal speedster Jasprit Bumrah makes the team a dangerous unit. It would be interesting to see how skipper Rohit Sharma manages the workload of Bumrah who is quite injury prone.
Pakistan on the other hand would be keen to stamp their authority with their trio Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf & Naseem Shah. Pakistan would be eyeing wickets in the powerplay overs as the pitch at Pallekele eases out as the game progresses.
