The Indian cricket team is all set to lock horns against Pakistan on 2nd September at Pallekele, Sri Lanka. The star batter Virat Kohli would be keen to prove a point that he is not finished yet in the ODI format. Virat Kohli will have to provide stability to the team in the middle overs phase.

Pakistan cricket team on the other hand can’t afford to be complacent despite thrashing Nepal in their previous contest. The side got a bit of a reality check against Nepal as the rare failure of top order raised questions over the team’s dynamics.

Babar Azam is one of the modern greats- Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram was having an interaction with Fox Cricket and was asked to choose between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli and astonishingly picked Virat Kohli over the latter. Wasim Akram pointed out that Babar Azam will catch up and it will take time to reach the level of Virat Kohli.

“It is a very difficult decision, that is why I don’t become a selector. I’ll probably get a lot of slack back home, but I will definitely pick Virat Kohli over Babar Azam. Babar is on the way, there is no doubt. He is one of the modern greats, but it will take some time. He will catch up, but it will take time,” said Wasim Akram.

Pakistan’s batting line up reliant on Babar Azam

We witnessed against Nepal how the Pakistan’s batters fell like a pack of cards. Babar Azam stood tall from one end and played a gigantic knock which proved to be the difference in the end. Pakistan would be hoping that Imam-ul-haq plays the role of anchor and lays the foundation for the rest of the batting unit.

All eyes will be on the dashing right handed batter Shreyas Iyer who is coming back from injury and it won’t be easy for him to dictate the terms from the word go. He is expected to bat at No.4 position and the star batter Virat Kohli once again will have to do the bulk of scoring.
