Yashasvi Jaiswal has been buzzing after smashing a terrific century against England in the ongoing Test Series against England. Yashasvi Jaiswal is making a statement that he is an all format player as the batter got massive recognition after performing exceptionally well in the previous IPL 2023.

Indian fans would be hoping that Rohit Sharma’s brigade continues to hunt in a pack against Ben Stokes side. The series is squared by 1-1 and with Virat Kohli not available for the remaining 3 Test matches, there would be immense pressure on the skipper Rohit Sharma as Virat & Rohit can be seen formulating different strategies on the ground.

I think comparisons are too early for Yashasvi Jaiswal- Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag was having an interaction with PTI Bhasha and was asked about Yashasvi Jaiswal. Virender Sehwag made it very clear that Yashasvi shouldn’t be compared with the greats of cricket as he is in his early stages of career. Virender Sehwag also made a statement on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 and said that the players won’t be burnt out after a 2 month IPL phase.

“He [Yashasvi Jaiswal] is a very good batsman but I think comparisons are too early,” said Virender Sehwag.

“I am confident that fatigue or burnout will not be a concern for players heading into the T20 World Cup. On the contrary, I feel that tournaments like IPL or ILT20 will prove instrumental in preparing teams for the global event. In IPL, one has to play 14 matches over two months, so there is ample time to maintain form and fitness and fine-tune skills ahead of the T20 World Cup,” he added.

Critical Phase for India

India hasn’t won an ICC tournament since 2013 and we all witnessed how close India was to clinch the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after winning 10 matches on the trot. All eyes were on whether the flamboyant all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the side for T20 WC 2024 but all of his leadership just somewhat went into vain as he was leading the side post T20 WC 2022.

BCCI’s powerful secretary Jay Shah made it clear that Rohit Sharma will lead the team once again for the marquee tournament. It would be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma fares as a captain as well as a batter as the pitches in Caribbean & USA are quite tricky and the batters will have to careful with their shot selection.
