England’s ultra-attacking approach ‘Bazball’ not only failed in Indian conditions but now many cricket experts are questioning England’s ideology to win Test series overseas. Ravichandran Ashwin, the shrewd right arm off-spinner had a memorable Test series. Ravichandran Ashwin played his 100th Test match for India and was the leading wicket-taker with 26 scalps to his name.

Ravichandran Ashwin was seen playing mind games with the Britishers and despite being 37 years of age, he still bowled impeccable lines & lengths. Ashwin along with Ravindra Jadeja made a statement that they are still one of the best spin pairs as Ravindra Jadeja took 19 wickets and bowled to a particular gameplan which outclassed the mighty England national cricket team.

Players like Joe Root & Ollie Pope have changed their games based on what the management says- Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin was seen speaking on his You Tube channel. Ravichandran Ashwin took a unique stance on England’s ‘Bazball’ and said that the batters Joe Root & Ollie Pope changed their natural game based on what the management told them. Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out that England cricketers are professional and matured and there’s no need to guide like U-10 or U-12 players.

“Many people wonder whether players like Joe Root and Ollie Pope have changed their games based on what the management says. But unless a player likes the strategy and fully buys in, nobody can tell a player how he has to play,” said Ravichandran Ashwin.

“It’s not under-10 or under-12 matches where you teach the players and guide them. These are professional, mature cricketers who have played for so many years and know how to play based on conditions,” he added.

Ollie Pope an Asset

Ollie Pope, the rising right handed batter was the biggest positive for England who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against India in the 1st Test match as his knock of 196 runs proved to be the difference in the end. Ollie Pope was getting starts but it seemed as if he was trying a bit too much hard to dictate the terms.

Ollie Pope managed to amass 315 runs in 5 Test matches. The batter is tipped to be the next big thing in world cricket and not many know that he is vice captain of the Test side. It won’t be wrong to say that the management missed the services of Harry Brook who pulled out of the tour citing personal reasons. ECB could have brought in the seasoned campaigner Chris Woakes who could have contributed in all the 3 facets of the game as a result there was added responsibility on the shoulders of veteran James Anderson
