IND vs ENG: “India Played Slightly Old-Fashioned Test Cricket”- Owais Shah’s Take On Indian Batters’ Approach As Compared To England’s

England national cricket team got a reality check as their ultra-attacking approach ‘Bazball’ wasn’t successful as the score-line of 1-4 was evident of that. Owais Shah raised his voice and said that England should learn from India if they want to beat a champion side. Owais Shah, the former England cricketer also stated that India played old fashioned cricket which is renowned one and they got success while doing that.

England’s batters weren’t ready for the uphill challenge, we should not forget that how Sir Alastair Cook’s side won a Test series in India by losing the first Test match. Winning test series in India looks quite a tough task for the teams and it is only possible if the sides win sessions or a particular tough phase and play out the situation rather than going berserk which England did and eventually failed.

You will have to learn from India- Owais Shah

Owais Shah was having an interaction with Colors Cineplex. Owais Shah pointed out that India defeated England by playing old-fashioned cricket which teams have been playing for centuries. Owais Shah stated that England should learn from India slightly and develop a new product so that England can beat India in the upcoming Test tours.

“This game has been played for centuries and teams have had success like that only. You can see how the opposition batted. The way India batted in India, they played slightly old-fashioned Test cricket, which is renowned as how a five-day Test match is played,” said Owais Shah.

“You will have to learn from that slightly and go to your kitchen and cook Bazball and that type of cricket, and give birth to a new product, so that England gets success again,” he added.

Questions aplenty for England

There are high chances that the batting sensation Harry Brook (*pulled out of the India Test tour citing personal reasons) may pip the dashing right handed batter Jonny Bairstow for England’s home summer. Jonny Bairstow may have played 100 Test matches but his technique against Indian spinners was highly questionable and he looked in two minds whether to attack or defend which hurt the team.

Skipper Ben Stokes would be considering batting up the order as he is someone who can provide stability to the team if there is a collapse. It would be interesting to see whether change their batting approach as they can’t take West Indies & Sri Lanka (*Test series) lightly who have the surprise element in them which makes them a team to beat in English’s summer.
