England cricket fans would be wondering that how the visitors fared in the 5 Test match series especially after the 1st Test match. Steve Harmison, the former lethal speedster was confused the way England’s batters performed. Steve Harmison made a massive statement on England’s ultra-attacking approach ‘Bazball’ and said indirectly that England should played smartly rather than fearlessly.

Rohit Sharma’s unit looked as if they were on a mission to destroy Ben Stokes’ led side after the opening Test match which was quite heart-wrenching for the billion people. The rise of the dynamic left handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal meant that there was no added pressure on the skipper Rohit Sharma who was quite calm & composed in his approach.

India were too good for England- Steve Harmison

Steve Harmison was having an interaction with ESPNCricinfo. Steve Harmison was quite irritated with the way, the Britishers batted in the recently concluded 5 Test Match series. Steve Harmison pointed out that England should take a leaf out of India’s batting approach which was quite productive and successful.

“The thing that’s annoyed me as a supporter is I don’t like that ‘this is the way we play’. I’m sick of that now because what we get is good players, top characters, ruthless individuals, don’t settle for ‘this is the way we play.’ said Steve Harmison.

“What they do is, they get on top, they cash in, and they say, ‘Right, you change your plan accordingly to me, the way I play, because I’m too good for you.’. Unfortunately, India were too good for England,” he added.

Is ‘Bazball’ really successful

The ‘Bazball’ was quite successful in Pakistan in 2022 Test series but we should not forget that the pitches in Pakistan weren’t that testing. Brendon McCullum though in his recent interviews mentioned that he may be a calm coach but he also has tough talks with England’s cricketers.

England’s next assignment is against West Indies & Sri Lanka and it won’t be wrong to say that England will dictate the terms against these two sides who still are in the phase of rebuilding. English fans would argue that they have been successful under the duo of Brendon McCullum & Ben Stokes; but deep down, we witnessed how they fell like a pack of cards against India.
