“Cut -Copy-Paste” ,the exact words to describe India’s and especially Indian superstar speedster’s Jasprit Bumrah‘s dominance over England in the scorching afternoon in Vizag giving all the reminder of the havoc he created with the ball on the 2nd day in Hyderabad too. Jasprit Bumrah looked as if he was on a mission as he bowled to a particular attacking gameplan

There India lost the advantage but here on the back of youngster Yashaswi Jaiswal’s maiden double century and Jasprit Bumrah‘s hostile spell of 6-45, India on Day 2 at Vizag stands in firm dominance having bowled out England for meagre 253 runs in respond to India’s 396 runs in the first innings having a total lead of 171 runs with Jaiswal and Rohit not out on crease after Day 2 and India hopes kept alive and dominant to square up the series 1-1 when they head to Rajkot for the 3rd test.

If morning session belonged to youngster Yashaswi  Jaiswal’s heroic double ton , the afternoon session especially after lunch and tea belonged to Indian superstar speedster Jasprit Bumrah who with his hostile spell of top class fast bowling and a haul of 6-45 just over 15 overs  proved that no ground or wicket in the world is unsupportive when he bowls with commitment and strength having proved this on Indian pitches who normally supports spin bowling a lot.

Jasprit Bumrah on a role in stopping England post lunch

Jasprit Bumrah might have had  a mighty special lunch on Saturday afternoon, The ball had begun to reverse swing and after an inspired bowling spell in Hyderabad afternoon a week ago there was no brainer that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma looking for wickets would turn to his star bowler Jasprit Bumrah and he delivered. Jasprit Bumrah came into play. He had earlier been hit for three consecutive boundaries by Crawley with the new ball. But now he worked over Joe Root and had him nicking to first slip.

That sequence of balls was bettered soon after as he thundered a 141.7 kph yorker past a well-set Ollie Pope to splatter the stumps as the hero from first match was just stunned stranded on the ground. It was the third wicket lost for 22 runs for England before Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes saw off the period of play before Tea but Jasprit Bumrah knew that a special bowling performance reckoned for him after tea and India had started to grip themselves firmly on English batters at stroke of tea.

Post Tea just as another stand was budding, Bumrah came back after the break to have Bairstow caught well at slip by Shubman Gill. In this period, he had some help from the other end with Kuldeep Yadav spinning one past Ben Foakes’ defence and having Rehan Ahmed caught at midwicket, with Gill pouching another sharp chance.

At 182/7, England were looking down and out before Stokes combined with Tom Hartley to counterattack the spinners. The duo added 47 in quick time forcing Rohit Sharma to turn towards Bumrah again.

The pacer delivered once again leaving Stokes bemused with one skidding through before Hartley went swinging and edging to give Gill his fourth catch of the innings. He wrapped it up by trapping James Anderson LBW to finish with figures of 6/45, to cap off an innings where he became the fastest Indian seamer to 150 Test wickets ending England’s innings on 253 all out making India’s 396 in first innings looking as a giant score.

This performance from Indian speedster on Indian soil where the wickets usually dont support fast bowling left former English skipper Alistair Cook in awe and he is in all praise for the Indian speedster.

Jasprit Bumrah single handedly changed the course of the game- Alastair Cook

Former England skipper Alastair Cook believes Jasprit Bumrah broke the back of the hosts’ batting unit on day 2 of the 2nd Test in Vishakhapatnam. The former England opener also reckons Zak Crawley’s wicket for 76 was the turning point of their first innings.

With Joe Root coming into the crease after Crawley’s exit, Indian captain Rohit Sharma brought Jasprit Bumrah on for a spell. The right-arm speedster nipped out Root, Ollie Pope, and Jonny Bairstow in a sensational spell to bring India back into the contest. Bumrah also went on to dismiss Ben Stokes, Tom Hartley, and James Anderson to finish with six scalps.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Cook reflected that Jasprit Bumrah single-handedly swung things India’s way and believes Pope got an unplayable delivery. The 39-year-old elaborated:

“Bumrah has carried India through today and has single-handedly changed the course of this game. England’s batting card started so well with Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, who played beautifully for 76. His wicket, the first time he came down the wicket and tried to hit leg-side – getting a leading edge – that was the changing point,”

Bumrah jumped in and ripped the heart out of the England batting line-up. Root was first to go, Pope to an unplayable in-swinging yorker, Bairstow and Stokes too falling to Bumrah. He has changed the game,”

The dismissal of Ben Stokes also marked Bumrah’s 150th scalp in Test cricket. The 30-year-old became the fastest Indian pacer to the landmark and the second fastest Asian to accomplish it.

I don’t think I’ve ever faced him bowling as well as that- Alistair Cook in awe of Jasprit Bumrah after an inspired spell of bowling.

Cook believes England’s total of 253 is massively under-par and lamented their failure to build from a position of 110-1. Dissecting Bumrah’s action, the 161-Test veteran believes his numerous angles make him unplayable.

“253 all out is well below par. England have let an opportunity slip from 110-1, but I actually think that at some stage you have to doff your cap to the opposition,”

Adding his thoughts about Bumrah’s spell, he said:

I’ve faced Bumrah a number of times, but I don’t think I’ve ever faced him bowling as well as that. His awkwardness, his different angles, he creates a different vision for the batter and it makes him sometimes unplayable.”

England had conceded a 143-run lead and it increased to 171 by stumps on day 2 and India would hope the same Jasprit Bumrah in the second innings as well when India will look for a win at Vizag to square up the series 1-1 heading to Rajkot.
