Despite all the outside noises, the Australian captain Pat Cummins seems fairly confident about his team and the selection ahead of facing India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi for the second test of the series.
The visitors lost the first test by a huge margin of an inning and 132 runs which aggravated the already circulating questions on Australian batters and their selections. The most prominent of them being that of the opener David Warner whose lean patch in the subcontinent continued.

The Australian supporters demanded Warner’s dismissal after the batter scored a total of 11 runs throughout the course of the game’s two innings. Meanwhile, speaking to the media ahead of the match, skipper Cummins emphasized his belief in the veteran batter
“Warner, when he tries to apply pressure to the opposition is the best, This echoed the sentiment of several former players who wanted Warner to counter-attack the opposition bowling attack, given his defense had proved to be breachable against both spin and pace.” said Pat Cummins
Options on plate for Australia
While batting undoubtedly remains the Kangaroo’s main concern at the moment, the bowling too in the first clash did not look anywhere close to the potential of the World’s no.1 test side. Now with their star bowler Mitchell Starc back to his full fitness, Australia has been considering alterations to their starting lineup.
Travis Head, whose absence in the first test perplexed everyone and raged controversy is also back in consideration however it is to note that the world no.4 with record-breaking summer behind his back doesn’t have the same kind of impact against spin.
“We will have a discussion over how we can fit in Starc in terms of bowling combination– going with spinners, Bola, and, etc. Travis has been awesome, he is been working hard on his game. He is absolutely part of the conversation for this Test as he was in the 1st.” said Pat Cummins.
