India’s magical off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin comes up with his words on the pitches that India has been playing on for the last few years. The surfaces in India have been real turners and have been downgraded by the ICC and other cricket experts. The off-spinner becomes so perilous for the batters, but Ravichandran Ashwin expressed that team management has the authority to choose surfaces.

Indian surfaces have really been a matter of concern for the batters for the last few years, but the spinners make the most of the pitches, which results in the finishing of the match in just two or three days. Pacers get very few jobs offered unless there is a reverse swing and the ball is swinging when it is new.

Spinners were just making much from rank turners- Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin was having an interaction with Times of India. Ashwin recalled that how the mighty Australian cricket team had to play 4 spinners in the recently concluded BGT 2023. Ravichandran Ashwin made it very clear that the team management decides on which pitch the team will play.

“I do not make the wickets, I do not roll the surfaces, and I just play on the pitch that is given to the team. The decision to play on a pitch is taken by the team management in the best interest of the team. The pitch is the same for all the bowlers and for me as well.”

“In the recent series against Australia, spinners were just making much from the rank turners, pacers hardly got the help from the pitches, and they did not get much t bowl. The Australian team, which is known for its lethal pace bowling attack, was forced to play four spinners in the series,”
expressed Ravichandran Ashwin.

Indian-ranked turners are a concern for most of the batters.

Once, Indian star batter Ajinkya Rahane also expressed the problems of batters because of these dead pitches. He expressed that the average Indian batter has gone down because they don’t get good batting tracks. There is uneven bounce of the surface which makes the life harder for the batters.

Due to the surfaces, the spinners get ample help from the very first ball and creates tons of problems to score runs. Some former cricketers also addressed the same issue of the low performance of Indian batters in test cricket.
