With most of the senior players rested Suryakumar Yadav got the opportunity to lead India for the first time in the t20’s against Australia. People were eager to see how Suryakumar Yadav manages his captaincy and how he will perform with a young squad. Answering most of the questions he managed to lead the team and registered a series triumph against Australia by 4-1. couldn’t do.

Suryakumar Yadav backed his bowlers and gave them the freedom to set their field and try to execute their plans. And the captaincy didn’t seem to be affecting his batting either, he looked in his zone and played freely. Leading Mumbai in domestic cricket might also have helped him a bit but the way he took his opportunity is good to see as an Indian cricket fan. He looked so calm throughout the game, just like at the crease batting.

The bowlers Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna praised him too during the post-match interviews saying he is giving them freedom and backing them. We still cannot come to much conclusion in this little period but so far, he looked good and seems to be enjoying his role as captain.

Suryakumar Yadav the batsman

Say whatever you want in ODIs but when the discussion comes to t20 cricket he stands tall above everyone. The way he understands his game and backs his skills to do the job is second to none. With the runs he scores and the rate at which he gets them you won’t find many batsmen around who could do that regularly, you can just throw him any situation on any surface, and he will get you the runs.

It might look easy from outside the way he operates in T20 but very few can see the efforts he put into the training ground and the hurdles he faced in reaching this position. The captaincy does not seem to be affecting his batting just as he said before the start of the series that he will leave the luggage before he goes out to bat. Hope he continues to deliver for Team India and bring us some glory at the upcoming T20 World Cup.
