The Indian cricket team is all set to lock horns against Australia in the 3rd ODI at Rajkot on 27 September (Wednesday).  Ravichandran Ashwin, the veteran spinner has made a case for himself in the ODI format. Ravichandran Ashwin hardly has played any sort of ODI cricket since the 2019 ODI WC as his inclusion is quite questionable.

It won’t be wrong to say that the Men in Blue would once again witness the duo of Ashwin & Jadeja in the ODI WC 2023. Though  Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t been included in the final squad, if we look at the statements from skipper Rohit Sharma, then Ravichandran Ashwin Ashwin looks all set to replace Axar Patel.

I think Ravichandran Ashwin might struggle to make it to the final 15- Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch was having an interaction with Star Sports and stated that the star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin would find it tough to make it to the final 15 of ODI WC 2023. Aaron Finch made a unique statement and said that Ravichandran Ashwin may be a big match player but he won’t make it to the ODI WC 2023 squad.

“I think he (Ashwin) might struggle to make it to the final 15, but as somebody who has played so much cricket, I think the rest of the group that is with the Indian team for this current series against Australia, they could learn so much about big game play,” said Aaron Finch

“Because Ashwin is somebody that stands up in big games, whether it’s a test match or a T20 game, he has done it all throughout his career. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s there at the moment as a mentor around the group, but I don’t see him making that last 15, unfortunately,” he added.

Exciting contest on cards

Indian cricket team would be aiming for a whitewash after outplaying Australia in the first 2 ODIs. All eyes will be on KL Rahul as he has shown great leadership skills and would be keen to end the white ball leg on a high note.

We should not forget that the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma &  Hardik Pandya didn’t play the matches and despite that the Men in Blue clinched the ODI series which says a lot about the team’s dynamics. Ruturaj Gaikwad would be keen to make the most in the 3rd ODI match.
