Australia seamer Sean Abbott expressed his disappointment in repeating the same mistakes as a team after their fifth successive ODI loss going into the World Cup. Sean Abbott was taken to the cleaners as all his variations were proving to be ineffective.  Australia crashed to a 99-run loss in a rain-hit game in Indore on Sunday, in the second one-day International against India chasing 317 off 33 overs.

Abbott was also is the top-scorer for Australia with 54 as he slammed a 29-ball half-century, laced with four fours and five towering sixes, adding 77 with Josh Hazlewood. Hazlewood was also their best bowler, bagging figures of 10-0-62-1. Abbott feels confident of making a strong comeback in the World Cup despite the poor show against India and South Africa.

I had a poor powerplay – Sean Abbott

Abbott, who took a wicket for 91 runs in 10 overs, shared his views in the post-match presentation as Australia did not have a good outing with the ball in South Africa and India. Sean Abbott admitted the fact that Aussies didn’t bowl well in the powerplay overs.

“It showed today when we were bowling, and it was a little bit the same in South Africa, every ball that missed the stumps was put away to the fence.  It’s not surprising … if you don’t execute like we did today and last game, they’re just going to dine out and we’re not putting them under much pressure,”  said Sean Abbott.

“It’s disappointing, especially from my end. I’d had a poor Powerplay (after) a pretty good Powerplay last game. I feel like I’ve made some of the same mistakes a couple of games in a row now. But I still feel like my game is in a good place and going in the right direction,” he stated.

I’ve just got to get out there and do it, and I know a couple of other guys feel the same. We’re doing some right things moving into the World Cup, we just haven’t put them out there on the park yet so I’m confident we can turn that around pretty quickly,” he added.
