Indian cricket team won a cracker of a contest against Australia in the 1st T20I match. Ishan Kishan played a vital role in the victory as he played a terrific knock of 58 runs in 39 balls and struck 2 fours and 5 massive sixes. The peculiarity of Ishan Kishan‘s knock was that he didn’t panic in the start even after playing an over maiden off the bowler Jason Behrendorff.

Ishan Kishan looked calm & composed as chasing 209 runs isn’t an easy task by any means. The skipper Suryakumar Yadav played a captain’s knock of 80 runs in 42 balls and it seemed as if the captaincy brought the better of  him. Suryakumar Yadav & Ishan Kishan were involved in a partnership of 112 runs in 60 balls and the duo were quite ruthless.

Ishan & Suryakumar targeted the inexperienced Tanveer Sangha and Ishan in particular unleashed attack on the leg spinner. Perhaps, skipper Matthew Wade made a mistake by not giving an another over to Matthew Short as the part-time spinner could have got rid of Ishan or Suryakumar and changed the complexion of the match.

I practiced a lot in the nets- Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan was having an interaction with the media and revealed how he practiced before the match and also stated his experience during the ODI WC 2023. Ishan Kishan revealed his chat with the skipper Suryakumar Yadav and said that how he went after Tanveer Sangha which changed the course of the match.

“During the World Cup, when I wasn’t playing, I asked myself before every practice session ‘What is important for me now? What I could do?’ I practised a lot in nets. I was co instantly talking to the coaches about the game, how to take the game deep. How to target certain bowlers. Being a lefty against leg-spinner, I know how the wicket was as I had kept for 20 overs,” said Ishan Kishan.

“When you are chasing 209, you need to target a bowler, who you can hit. The communication was very important in the middle. I had a chat with Surya bhai. ‘I’m gonna take Tanveer Sangha (down) wherever he bowls’ because we needed the close the gap between runs and balls. You can’t leave too many runs for the batters at the back. It won’t be easy for them to play the big shots straight away. I had to take my chances and I believed in myself,” he added.
